This is a cover letter (email) I wrote for the Santa Cruz SPCA's volunteer Junior Counselor position last summer for their Summer Animal Olympics Camp.

Dear Alison Shearman,

I was informed about a summer job opportunity at the Santa Cruz SPCA for the Summer Animal Olympics Camp and I am writing to inquire about becoming a Junior Camp Counselor this summer. 

I am 17 years old and finishing 11th grade, currently with a 4.0 GPA. I have participated in several Santa Cruz SPCA programs in the past, including two of the Community Service Saturdays (Feb. 2020 and Sep. 2021), as well as Pet-Sitting Camp, where I received a Pet Sitting Certificate (Dec. 2021). I have also volunteered at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah (Jun. 2021 and signed up for Jun. 2024). Additionally, last summer I completed a four week long Counselor in Training program at YMCA's Camp Campbell (Jun. 2023) where I learned to work with children of a wide age range. (Please see my attached resume for more.) I think my past experience aligns well so that I would be a valuable Junior Counselor at your youth camps this summer, and it sounds like a job I would enjoy doing.

For your information, I will be traveling during the first part of the summer, but will be available from mid-July through early August before school starts again.
